First of all, a "State of the Union" from President Leon Hite on our accomplishments this year:
Creation of a Neighborhood Blog
Raising of funds for a Neighbor when her husband passed
Food trucks for days of social distancing and fellowship among residents
Making the adjustment for association due from $150 to $100 per year
Observed an incident free 4th of July Fireworks Show put on by residents not the association.
Investigated and maintain a neighborhood watch presence
Kept 25,000 plus dollars in the account that will grow when we collect dues from delinquent resident’s accounts.
Planning us organized volunteers again to do Christmas Caroling as weather prevented us last year!!
Supported the FB page that is run by some residents in getting the word out for event, incidents and updates.
Cut expanded wooded common ground and lake areas
Removed weeds and trash from the retention basin common ground, woods and lake.
Researched a Plan to improve the street lights in the subdivision and away to save money long term on billing.
Eased restriction of parking RV’s in driveways during the pandemic because of medical quarantines for some families to no more than 2 weeks
Checked on residents during the pandemic
Loved thy Neightboor
Treasurer Nick Bode reports we began the year in October with a balance of $27,007.70 and are ending September with a balance of $28,123.99.
For myself, I think my proudest moment was seeing the way that the neighborhood rallied to Joy when she lost her husband during the pandemic. The outpouring of love and support meant as much to her as the gift cards, flag and case. Joy unfortunately needed to sell her home and move to assisted living, but she made a point of saying how much that meant to her.
It is time to elect a new board! In this unprecedented year, we will be doing nominations and elections virtually. I will need nominations by the 7th of October, so that I can make a Survey Monkey to send out election ballots. If I don't have your email address, please ensure that I do by emailing it to springlakeestates1@gmail.com.
On a final note, I will not be returning a secretary next year. My two jobs simply take too much time. I have enjoyed my time on the board, though. The next board will receive the passwords for the HOA gmail account and the blog and will need to change the passwords to maintain security. I'll be available during that transition to help if needed.
Thank you to all the residents of Spring Lake Estates for the way you came together this year with the food trucks, the support and the kindness you showed. You make this a good place to live!
